DEFINE DIVINE: We Never Claimed Our Singer Was In CANNIBAL CORPSE

December 1, 2005

DEFINE DIVINE, the San Francisco-based metal band featuring former NEUROTICA/BALD DAISY guitarist Shawn Bowen and ex-NEUROTICA drummer G.J. Gosman, have issued the following statement regarding a previously published press release claiming that the group's singer, Angst, was once a member of "an early incarnation of CANNIBAL CORPSE":

"We would like to make a clarification. We had some negative reactions from die-hard CANNIBAL fans. Angst never claimed to be in CANNIBAL CORPSE. The original information was taken from our band website. He did play with TIRANT SIN with two of the original CANNIBAL CORPSE members. Chris Barnes [original CANNIBAL CORPSE frontman] played with TIRANT SIN before Angst and it became CANNIBAL CORPSE after Angst left. Original CORPSE guitarist Bob Rusay was also part of this lineup.

"CANNIBAL CORPSE has been a great inspiration to the musical career of Angst. DEFINE DIVINE holds CANNIBAL CORPSE in the highest regard. We believe that the members of CANNIBAL are supportive to our efforts. [Editor's note: Shortly after the publication of the original article, CANNIBAL CORPSE bassist Alex Webster contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET to refute DEFINE DIVINE's claim that Angst was once a member of 'an early incarnation of CANNIBAL CORPSE.' The original article has since been amended to reflect this.] When we were known as PIMP SLAP THE ATMOSPHERE, CANNIBAL Jack, Alex and Paul would frequent our Tampa shows. It is unlikely that hardcore death metal fans would like our music, but we will give CANNIBAL CORPSE props for the inspiration provided."
